If the story of Christmas tells us how to believe . . . then the music of Christmas tells us how to feel.  -  Derric Johnson

2002 Tech Diagram

The diagram below depicts in a logical fashion, how our display is controlled by two PC's.  The PC's are part of our home LAN which also supports three other PC's, shared printers and a wireless access point.  One PC is used to run the Dasher software (www.christmascave.com)  which controls 14 mini-trees and six other trees (each with two different colors of lights) connected to four serial controllers.  These trees are synchronized  to the music being broadcast on our FM transmitter.  On another PC, we are running the Powerhome X10  control software (www.myx10.com).  This software is used to initially turn on the lights in the evening in a controlled, orderly and timely fashion.  The reverse is then implemented to turn them off at the end of the night.  The X10 control is also helpful for initial troubleshooting and testing. We can control individual circuits with an infrared remote while working in the yard. Also, this same PC runs Ivista Pro video software (www.inetcam.com)  that supports two streaming web cams and the video clip service.  Please email us if you have any questions.
