The diagram below depicts in a logical fashion, how our
display will be controlled in 2003. A PC is used to run
Animation
Director software (www.animatedlighting.com)
which controls almost 40,000 mini-lights connected to eight serial controllers
totaling 96 individual channels. These lights are synchronized
to the music being broadcast on our FM transmitter.
We also use Animation Director to control static parts of our display
using X10 technology. This technology is used to initially turn on the
lights in the evening in a controlled, orderly and timely fashion.
The reverse is then implemented to turn them off at the end of the night.
X10 is also useful in testing and troubleshooting as we can control individual circuits with an infrared remote while working
in the yard. Also,
this same PC runs Ivista Pro
video software (www.inetcam.com)
that supports two streaming web cams and the video clips of our virtual
Santa.
